How much does a move cost?
A move with a removal company in the Netherlands costs roughly €1,040 – €1,330 for a studio within the same city, €1,570 – €2,000 for a 3-room home over about 50 km and €3,380 – €4,310 for a detached house over 150 km (incl. VAT and insurance, on a weekday). The price mainly depends on the volume in m³, the distance and the day; a weekend move costs about 12% more.

What determines the price of a move?
The distance between the old and new address, the volume of your belongings (in m³), the number of movers, extra services such as packing or assembly, and the day of the move. In our pricing model a weekend move costs 12% more and an urgent move (within 2 weeks) 18% more.
Is VAT included in the rates shown?
Yes. The amounts include the VAT of the country of departure (21% in the Netherlands). VAT-registered businesses can reclaim the VAT. Ask the moving company for an invoice with a clear VAT breakdown.
When is moving cheapest?
On a weekday, because there is no weekend surcharge. Also plan ahead: for a move within 2 weeks our model adds an urgency surcharge.
Are there extra costs I should expect?
Possibly. Think of carrying items up or down stairs without a lift, waiting time if the keys are available later, a long walk to the truck, packing materials, storage and parking fees in busy city centres. Ask the moving company to specify these in advance.
How do I get a reliable quote?
A good quote has a full price breakdown. Ask several companies for a quote based on the same inventory, preferably have your home surveyed (on site or by video) and check whether the company is a member of a trade association, such as the Dutch Organisatie Erkende Verhuizers (OEV).
